Celebrating CTE Month ®

WHAT IS CTE MONTH?

It is time to celebrate CTE Month! CTE does so much for Spirit Box Teams and DECA.

“Career and Technical Education Month®, or CTE Month®, is a public awareness campaign that takes place each February to celebrate the value of CTE and the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs across the country.” (Association for Career & Technical Education)

ABOUT CTE

MISSION

Provide educational leadership in developing a competitive workforce.

Vision Statement

Empowering educators to deliver high quality CTE programs that ensure all students are positioned for career success.

HOW YOUR SCHOOL CAN PARTICIPATE

Many schools utilize CTE aligned curriculum, CTE online resources, professional development resources, and even receive funding from the CTE Support fund. This month, it’s time to show our appreciation for CTE!

Social media

Share on social media what CTE has done for you. Highlight student experiences with CTE and how it has impacted their education.

Download the CTE Month Zoom background to celebrate.

Or you can participate in the 2022-2023 CTE Month & NASA Hunch Student Video Challenge to showcase your team’s work!

Advocacy

The goal behind CTE is to prepare students for their future. You can work with policymakers in a variety of ways to help create new channels of opportunities for students like yourself. The link above contains a list of ways you can contact your representatives, local media,  and local civic leadership to engage them in why CTE matters.

Alumni recognition and Civic School Visits

Recognize your alumni because your program wouldn’t be where it is today without the work they did during their time. If you are a Spirit Box team, a DECA Team, FBLA, or all of the above, show your appreciation for those who came before you.

  • Highlight them on your social media

  • Send them email updates on how your team is doing and what it has accomplished

  • Ask them to come speak to your team (or video call in)

You can also invite local civic leaders, media and representatives to visit your school to share about the value of CTE and business education. Showcase your skills, talents and results while also advocating for students across your area. Click the link above for more advice about hosting a school visit.

CTE FUNDING

The federal government passed the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act, the bill that reauthorizes the 2006 Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act. This is a new law that governs the federal investment of CTE. Schools that align with CTE qualify for this funding to allocate to their programming (such as allocating this funding to their Spirit Box).

There is always advocacy work happening to provide additional funding for CTE programs and students across the nation. Check out this page for an updated list of ways you can take action.

THANK YOU CTE FOR EVERYTHING!

At Spirit Box, we are so thankful for CTE and what you have done for our students in our program and students across the country.
