My Spirit Box is Not Accepting Cash!

What do you do when your Spirit Box starts refusing to take cash? It's frustrating for sure, but there are a few simple troubleshooting steps you can try yourself. These fixes should get your vending machine up and running again in no time.

Check Your Change Levels:

As your Spirit Box is being used, it will dispense change back to the customer. This will deplete the coin tubes. An underfilled tube, even for dimes and nickels, can cause the Spirit Box's change-making ability to act strangely. Make sure all coin tubes are adequately filled. The magic number is 20% filled for each coin tube, even the nickels and dimes.

Look for Jams:

The next step is to inspect your coin cassette for any jams or foreign objects that may be causing the problem. Locate the two smaller doors above the cassette – these can be opened to take a closer look. Check out the picture below for reference. The top door features a small trigger that you push down to open, while the second one below it has a latch on the far left that you push in to open. Take a close look inside and ensure that everything appears normal and free of obstructions.

Time for a Reboot:

If the first two steps still don't get your Spirit Box to accept cash, try a classic tech fix: the reboot. Open the right-side door and locate the "Main Power" switch towards the back on the right. Turn it off, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

Remember, troubleshooting your Spirit Box can be a simple process. You can also always call while troubleshooting for extra support and to answer any questions you have along the way. One of these simple fixes will get your Spirit Box accepting cash again in no time.
